  4. [S2237] Bryan, Jerry: research notes, 15 December 2016 (Lucille Wright).

Eva Lucille Peters Wright was known as Lucille to friends and family in Tennessee, and she more often was known by friends in Ohio as Lucy. This information was confirmed by Ray Wright and Eddie Wright after Lucille's death.

research notes by Jerry Bryan, 12/15/2016.

  5. [S90] Wright, Lucille: personal interview, recorded by Jerry Bryan, 12 October 2003.

Grandma Peters was short, wore her hair in a bun, and always wore an apron.

Lester taught school at the one room Claxton School at the time when Hutsell was sick (about 1920). The school was on the right side of Clinton Highway (northbound), before you get to the crossroads at Claxton. He could play the piano. He played fiddle at dances. His violin was originally Hutsell's. Grandpa Peters smoked a pipe and never said anything. Grandpa and Grandma Peters were often visited by Mark and Calvin Scarbrough.

Lucille was named after her mother's sister, Eva Mae Buckner.

(Lucille Wright, personal interview 12 Oct 2003, recorded by Jerry Bryan).

Snyder Funeral Homes web site (many locations near Mt. Vernon, Ohio), Ohio 3 May 2017. Virlen “Ray” Wright August 12, 1939 ‒ May 02, 2017, Centerburg .
Ray Wright, age 77 of Centerburg, died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at St. Ann’s Hospital with his loved ones by his side. He was born on August 12, 1939 in Anderson County, Tennessee to the late Audie and Lucille (Peters) Wright. A graduate of Centerburg High School in 1957, he went on to serve in the US Navy. While his ship was at the Saint John New Brunswick Port in Canada, he met his bride to be, Dorothy Kernighan. Married, they shared 53 wonderful years together, raising a family, and sharing life’s journey. Following retirement as a quality assurance inspector with Western Electric/ATT/Bell Communication Research, Ray operated Wright-Way Locksmith and Wright-Way Water Systems. He also was a driver for Ross Jeep Eagle and repaired voting machines for the Knox County Board of Elections. He was a member of the Sunbury Eagles and V.F.W., Centerburg AMVETS, and the Mt. Vernon Moose and Elks Lodges. He was also an active volunteer and supporter of the Centerburg High School Athletic and Music Boosters, as well as the Centerburg Baseball Little League. Self-trained in virtually every trade, he enjoyed golf, gardening, and was a stubborn fan of the Cleveland sports teams. Never with idle hands, if there was a need Ray was the first to lend a hand. Possessing a friendly and gregarious nature, he was the consummate supporter. Fun loving, he was always persistent and at times stubborn. He was the proudest being a supportive husband, father, and grandfather, for which he will forever be remembered. Ray is survived by his wife of 53 years Dorothy; children: Debbie Henthorn (Harry Westergaard) of Centerburg, Randy (Nicki) Wright of Galena, Ryan (Tracy) Wright of Centerburg; 7 grandchildren: Allison (Scott) Miller, Trey Henthorn, Ryan, Isaiah, and Logan Wright, Alaina and Gavin Wright; great-grandchildren: Madison, Tyler, and Lily Miller, and Elliott Hamannthorn; brother Eddie (Jo) Wright; sister Brenda Eagon; mother-in-law Fern Kernighan, several nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins. He was also preceded in death by infant granddaughter Anna Kristine Wright. His family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, May 5th during his Celebration of Life at the DeVore- Snyder Funeral Home, 637 N. St. Rt. 61, Sunbury, Ohio 43074. Ray always wore red on Fridays in honor of veterans, “until they all come home” and you are encouraged to wear the same. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Hilliar Twp. Trustees Memorial Park, P.O. Box 649, Centerburg, Ohio 43011 or Pancreatic Cancer Research, NPCF, P.O. Box 1848, Longmont, CO 80502. Condolences may be expressed at www.snyderfuneralhomes.com
